The cafe is open from 10.30-12.30 every Thursday. Everyone is welcome to share fellowship, friendship, relax and have an enjoyable few hours together. The cafe provides tea, coffee. hot chocolate and biscuits at very reasonable prices and all the products are fair-trade. During the year we support the Christian Aid Super Soup Lunch which has become very popular. For two Thursdays at the end of January and beginning of February all the funds from the cafe go to help “Poverty and Homelessness Fortnight”. At all other times any profit is donated to support the St. Martin’s Building for the future project.
Every 2nd and 4th Thursday during the month the Café has a Dementia friendly activity table. Activities include colouring, painting, jigsaws, wordsearches and other activities. We have also made snowmen at Christmas and rabbits at Easter.
While the cafe is taking place, the church is open so that anyone who wishes to may go in and sit quietly or pray. On the first Thursday of each month, the local councillors use the cafe as their surgery. Developing out of the cafe, a Bearevement Group meets every first and third Thursday. Again this has provided care and comfort to those in need.
Running alongside the cafe, Tai Chi classes take place in the small hall, run by qualified instructors. There are 2 Tai Chi groups running from 10.00-10.40, 11.00-11.40 approximately.
